The legendary Paris World Exhibition in 1867 gave the world the Eiffel Tower, millions of visitors lasting impressions - and Anton Gerstner a gold medal for his patisserie creations. This inspired him to experiment with Parisian cream and created the cake that would carry his name around the world a century and a half later: the Gerstner Torte.
